Best restaurants Mykonos Kastros

Mykonos is not only known for its breathtaking beaches and nightlife but also for some of the best restaurants in the Greek islands. The culinary scene in Mykonos offers everything from traditional tavernas serving authentic Greek dishes to upscale restaurants. Here are the best restaurants in Mykonos that we ate at during our vacation.

Tips for Dining at the Best Restaurants in Mykonos

  • During the peak season in July and August make sure to book ahead. In other months, you can usually book a few days ahead and get most of the restaurants on the days and times you prefer, though sometimes the best tables (with the best view of the water) are reserved earlier.
  • Look up the time the sunsets for the dates you’ll be in Mykonos if you’re trying to get a picture perfect sunset dinner.
  • Not all restaurants are open year round, many close during the off season (and reopen late May) so if you’re thinking about going to Mykonos during a slower month check what restaurants will be open before you book your trip.
  • Make sure to order local Greek food like octopus, feta wrapped in phyllo with honey drizzle, kebabs and some of the best Greek salads you will ever eat.

Bar Hopping in Little Venice: Negrita Bar, Bao’s Cocktail Bar, Scarpa Bar, Semeli Bar, Caprice Bar

Before eating at one of the best restaurants in Mykonos, head to some of the bars in Mykonos town for a drink. The Little Venice district within Mykonos Town is a great place to grab a drink before dinner or go bar hopping later. Little Venice is situation right at the waterfront and has balconies overlooking the sea. You can drink a cocktail right on the waters edge. Most of these bars are right next to each other on the waters edge so find a menu with a cocktail you like or keep on walking to the next bar until you find a place to sit.

Zumas for Drinks (Approx 10 min from Mykonos Town)

Zuma’s Mykonos is located next to one of the most luxurious hotels in Mykonos, Cavo Tagoo Mykonos. The views are absolutely incredible, and offer a stunning view of the Aegean Sea. It is about a 10 minute drive from Mykonos Town. Zuma’s is the perfect setting to enjoy cocktails or an appetizer if you don’t have time for a full dinner.. We have been to Zuma’s Las Vegas and Zuma’s Miami as well, and Zuma’s Mykonos by far offered the best views and ambiance. The food and cocktails we enjoyed were the same as their other locations, but the scene and views at Zuma’s Mykonos make it a must visit, at least for a cocktail.

What to order: Lychee and rose petal martini, ama mizu martini, all of the sushi is incredible

Noema for Dinner  (Mykonos Town)

Noema is the best restaurant in Mykonos in our opinion. The dinner we had at Noema was also the best meal we had during our entire trip to Greece. If you are a foodie, this restaurant is for you. Noema is conveniently located in Mykonos Town, and has a gorgeous outdoor patio area. It does not have a view of the sea or sunset like other restaurants, as it’s located in the very heart of Mykonos Town. Noema is owned by the same group as Scorpios and offers a refined dining experience. Don’t be swayed by the 3.9 rating on Google, that is mainly from people that disagree with their deposit policy and also requiring at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel. This is now the norm at many nice restaurants in major cities in the United States and so this was normal to us, but is a surprise to others. It was one of our most expensive meals in Greece, but it was well worth the price.

What to order: octopus, lamp skewers, spicy feta dip and meatballs

Kastro’s Restaurant for Dinner (Mykonos Town)

Kastro’s also has our vote for one of the best restaurants in Mykonos. This restaurant was recommended to us by several people while we were planning our trip and it did not disappoint. Kastro’s is located right at the waterfront in Mykonos Town, right at the edge of Little Venice, and has a gorgeous view of the sunset. There are only a few tables in the restaurant with a perfect view of the sunset – the little balconies that hang over the water and the closest tables to the water outside. The restaurant does charge more for the tables with the best sunset view (by imposing a minimum), but we didn’t think we spent any more money than we would have otherwise. Getting one of these tables was worth it, and we are glad we booked well ahead of time to get the best seat.

What to order: risotto with shrimps, seabass carpaccio, myconian cheese spring rolls, Greek salad

What not to order: the calamari. While the calamari was beautifully presented, it was a bit bland and the other dishes we ate were much better.

Scorpios for Sunset Drinks or Dinner  (Paraga Beach)

If you’re in Mykonos, you must go to Scorpios at least once, whether it is to enjoy the beach, sunset drinks, dinner or late night partying. Scorpios is a legendary beach club in Mykonos but also has a great restaurant with great views. We went for dinner, and very much enjoyed dinner though our top two meals were at Noema and Kastro’s. There were a few things we ordered like the beef tartar which we thought were only ok. If you decide to go for dinner and also want a relaxed environment, look at what time the sun is setting and make a reservation for an hour before then so your meal ends as the sun has set.

What to order: Breads and spreads, octopus

What not to order: beef tartare (it was ok, but have had better)

Nammos Beach Club (Psarou Beach)

Best beach club Mykonos Nammos

We spent the day at Nammos Beach Club so we ended up eating a light lunch of fruit and yogurt while relaxing at the beach. Nammos offers a great menu of both food and drinks, including grilled octopus, seafood linguine and other dishes filled with local ingredients. The service at Nammos is also incredible, and some of the best service you’ll experience in Greece.

Best Restaurants in Mykonos Conclusion

In conclusion, Mykonos had some of the best restaurants across all the islands we visited while in Greece. There is more upscale dining in Mykonos compared to the other islands, but these meals tended to also be more expensive. Mykonos has some of the best restaurants that you’ll eat at in all the Greek islands, so it is worth it to dine at some of the upscale restaurants in Mykonos and enjoy the more casual Greek Tavernas on other islands.
