Parikia is the capital and the main port of Paros. This is where the ferry will drop you off / pick you up. Parikia has a range of accommodations and accommodations tend to be a bit cheaper than Naoussa. Staying in Parikia makes it easy to take the ferry to Antiparos for a day trip and is about 25 minutes from the Santa Maria beach club. Parikia has decent shopping and decent restaurants. You can stay right in the town, or up on the hill which has gorgeous sunset views. If you stay on the hill, you can walk down to the village but it’s a bit easier to drive down with an ATV.

Naoussa is a charming fishing village with lots of shops, restaurants and accommodations. This tends to be the more luxurious area of Paros, including where the first 5 star hotel opened (Cosme, owned by Marriott). Naoussa is also where you can find the islands most famous restaurants like Sigi Ikthios and Barbarossa. You’ll find many of the pictures you see of Paros on Instagram were taken in Naoussa. One of the most popular places to take pictures is right in front of the Linardo sign. You can also walk to the Venetian Castle. It is easy to stay right in the town, or out the outskirts of town and walk into town.

Monastiri Beach is one of the beaches in Paros that has a beach club with relaxing music, beach chairs you can rent and wait service for drinks and food. Since Paros is overall less crowded than Mykonos, you can show up and ask to rent chairs there. Be sure to bring your own towels and sunscreen as towels aren’t included with the chair and they do not sell sunscreen.

If you go to Monastiri beach, there is a hiking path that starts from the beach. It’s a pretty trail that isn’t too difficult but is a bit hard to do in flip flops. Make sure to bring sneakers just in case.

Santa Maria Beach is another popular beach in Paros. It’s not too far from Naoussa, but if you’re staying in Parikia it’s easier to get to Monastiri beach.

Doing a boat tour from Paros is a great way to spend time on the Mediterranean Sea and explore nearby areas. Boat tours from Paros also tend to be cheaper than boat tours in Mykonos and Santorini. Some boat tours go to Antiparos, other go to the cave of Epitaphios, and go to Despotikio Island. Many include a lunch or dinner and drinks.

Taking a day trip to Antiparos is a popular excursion from Paros. These two islands are conveniently very close to each other and the car ferry from Pounta goes every 20 minutes or so. The ferry is very short, and usually only 10-15 minutes. You can purchase your tickets right on the ferry, but bring cash. You can also do a boat tour to Antiparos. There are a lot of fun things to do in Antiparos.

Day trip to Naxos

Taking a day trip to Naxos from Paros is a great way to explore another very popular Greek island. The islands are close enough where you can do a day trip, though ferry times are limited. The ferry is approx. 45 minutes, but with only a few ferries you may not get to spend as much time on Naxos as you’d like. There are the same ferries you took to arrive on Paros, so expect those ferry crowds. Naxos has one main town, Chora, that is walking distance from the ferry and is the easiest way to spend your day trip to Naxos. There are also great beaches, Naxos castle, and shopping.
